Jesus as a real human

… “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” (John 1:46) ... he was discounted, and even subjected to the equivalent of racism?

… “We esteemed him not.” (Isaiah 53:3) ... Jesus was definitely not considered "cool."

… “ ‘Isn't this the carpenter?’ … And they took offense at him.” (Mark 6:3) ... He didn't have distinguished parents or distinguished career aspirations.

… “She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7) ... he was poor and born in an undignified place.

… “Even his own brothers did not believe in him.” (John 7:5) ... His family thought he was crazy, stupid, foolish, etc.

… “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature” (Luke 2:52) ... Jesus had to study hard!

… “His mother said to him, ‘Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.’” (Luke 2:48) ... His parents misunderstood and scolded him.

… “Take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” (Matthew 2:16) ... People wanted to kill Jesus when he was a baby.

… “Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered” (Hebrews 5:8) ... Even Jesus in his human nature had to learn to trust God by suffering.

… “He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.” (Isaiah 53:2) ... Jesus wasn't considered good looking!

… “After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. [It took them 3 days to find him.]” (Luke 2:34-44) ... Jesus' family lost him in a big crowd - they weren't especially attentive to him.
